Met Office daily weather: Warm and humid with temperatures on the rise
The latest Met Office forecast is suggesting a warm, humid Friday and Saturday with temperatures on the rise
Friday will bring a marked contrast in weather across the UK. Much of Scotland, Northern Ireland, northwest England and north Wales will be cloudy and breezy, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, particularly over higher ground. Some brighter spells are likely in sheltered eastern areas.
Elsewhere, it will be a largely dry day with variable cloud and sunny intervals. The best of the sunshine will be across southern, central and eastern England, where it will feel very warm, with temperatures reaching 27–28°C in places. It will be warm across much of the country, away from the northwest, and increasingly humid for all as the day progresses.

Friday night will remain warm and muggy for most, particularly in the south and east. Further outbreaks of rain and drizzle are expected across the northwestern half of the UK, with the rain most persistent across Scotland. Extensive low cloud and hill fog are likely in these areas. Some clearer spells may develop in the far northwest later in the night, though this remains uncertain. Southern and eastern parts of the UK will stay dry with some clear intervals.
Outlook for Saturday
Saturday 28 June will see the cloud and rain in the north and west gradually shifting southeastwards into more central areas. Some showers may follow into the northwest later in the day. Further southeast, it will be a drier day overall, with sunny spells developing after a cloudy start.
Winds will be mostly light in the south, but moderate to strong further north, with the potential for coastal gales in the far northwest. Temperatures will remain warm overnight, with daytime maxima rather cool in the northwest under cloud and rain. However, it will be very warm or hot in the southeast, where temperatures are expected to widely reach the high 20s Celsius, and locally the low 30s Celsius.
The weekend will continue to feel very warm or hot in the south and east, with humid conditions persisting for many.

Met Office presenter and meteorologist, Clare Nasir, said: “More cloud and rain arrives across Northern Ireland and western Scotland into Friday morning before it slowly pushes eastwards. If you are stepping out on Friday morning, you may run into some rain anywhere from Lancashire northwards, certainly Northern Ireland, much of Scotland, a filament of rain affecting Orkney, pushing up towards Shetland. But then some broken clouds, so some brighter weather before this wet weather moves this way.
“Anywhere from South Yorkshire, mid Wales southwards, you'll see some fine weather on Friday and also some sunshine, and temperatures responding quite quickly to that sunshine, particularly across eastern counties through the day. But this rain could pep up and intensify through the morning into the afternoon. And the wind will be a key feature of the weather through the afternoon as well. Despite the rain, 21°C for Northern Ireland, 20°C for Glasgow, 21°C for Manchester, but notice 25°C to 27°C anywhere from East Wales towards eastern counties of England.
“Temperatures will be even higher through into Saturday. However, through Friday night, that rain clears most parts. There's a straddling weather front though, which will weaken all the while into Saturday morning. It will sit anywhere from southern Scotland down towards the far south of Northern Ireland, clipping the far north of England and perhaps even northwest Wales. So, a lot of cloud here, some patchy rain and drizzle. Brighter skies towards the north, but still that strong wind across the far northwest of Scotland with one or two showers.
“Further south, it's a mix of clouds and some brighter breaks. Certainly you will see some sunshine coming through as we head through the afternoon as this rain continues to feed in, particularly across the north Pennines. So, temperatures on Saturday look like this: we're likely to see 26°C to 29°C anywhere from the Midlands, East Wales towards eastern counties. Now for Wales itself, probably around 23°C towards the west and 21°C across the central belt of Scotland towards eastern counties of Scotland. Still quite a keen breeze in places but certainly feeling very warm and humid.”
