Pollen forecast: Will we see levels rise over the weekend?

Author: Met Office

Pollen levels remain largely low across the UK through the next few days, though a gradual increase is expected.

For Thursday, pollen levels are expected to remain low across all regions. However, on Friday and Saturday, there are signs of a rise in weed pollen levels across London and parts of southeast England, where concentrations may begin to increase to moderate levels, with some locally higher values developing.

By Sunday, higher concentrations become more widespread across southern parts of the UK. Southeast and southwest England are expected to see high weed pollen levels, while Wales, the Midlands and eastern England see levels rise to moderate. Grass pollen levels are also likely to start rising. Elsewhere, levels remain generally low.

On Monday, pollen levels show further variation across the UK. Wales returns to lower levels, though elevated concentrations persist across southern and eastern England. Southeast England is likely to experience very high pollen levels, with high levels also across parts of the southwest and east of England. The higher levels are likely to be due to weed pollens, but grass pollen will be becoming increasingly higher. The Midlands are expected to see medium levels, while other areas remain lower overall, although with some early grasses now flowering.
