Weather app reaches half a million downloads

With changeable weather as the school holidays get into full swing the Met Office weather app comes into its own.

The new app gives you access to the latest UK forecast on the go and now has half a million users.  It was officially launched in May and enables you to plan your day and stay one step ahead of the weather while you are out and about with the family.

The app is proving to be very popular with a 4.5* rating for iOS and 4* for Android. Around 40% of those who have installed it use it regularly, placing it within the top 100 apps in the app stores.

The app delivers faster, more accurate forecast information and Severe weather warnings across both iOS and Android devices for up to seven days in advance. It is unique as it is the only weather app on the market to feature UK weather video forecasts and Pollen forecast. These features, together with the national rainfall forecast video, observation radar and real-time air pollution figures, can help you plan activities whatever the conditions.

The apps weekly weather forecast snapshot for multiple locations allows you to personalise information focusing on your particular requirements. This gives you access to accurate weather forecasts for your location and is an essential aid when planning for the Great British Summer season.

New Half of Brits Secretly Wish For 'Weekend Washouts' revealed that 62% of UK adults currently check the weather on a daily basis. Nearly half (44%) say access to weather apps mean they check the weather more regularly with one in ten people finding weather apps the most useful type of app.

The Met Office Weather App is available to download now for free and is being continuously developed in line with user feedback and suggestions. For iPhone the app is available from the App store. For Android the app is available from the Google Play store.
