Rain warning of yellow

Yellow warning of rain

Be aware

13:00 on Saturday until 23:00 on Saturday

Heavy, thundery showers on Saturday afternoon and evening have the potential to bring localised flooding, hail and frequent lightning.

Chief Forecaster's assessment

Skies will brighten following a band of showery rain, though rising temperatures will cause heavy showers to develop. Whilst many will miss the worst, some places could see 20-30 mm in an hour or less. The risk of this looks slightly higher across Scotland than across England or Northern Ireland.

Rain warning of yellow

Yellow warning of rain

Be aware

12:00 on Sunday until 12:00 on Monday

Another band of heavy rain is likely to spread northward through Sunday into Monday, with some locally torrential downpours and thunder possible. There are early indications that this could result in some disruption, with sudden flooding of roads, transport routes, homes and businesses possible. Please monitor forecasts through this weekend.

Chief Forecaster's assessment

Torrential rain and thunderstorms could give as much as 30mm, possibly 40mm in an hour in places. It is not certain where flooding impacts may occur, but it is likely to be in a few places rather than across the whole warning area. Lightning strikes are also possible, which bring a chance of power cuts.
