Regional Forecast for South West England

Headline:

Turning colder with an increasing risk of snow.

This Evening and Tonight:

After a clear start, it will become slightly cloudier overnight but temperatures will still widely fall below zero with a frost for many. A few snow showers may creep across the far south of Devon and Cornwall towards dawn. Minimum temperature -3 °C.

Monday:

A frosty start, then a colder but still sunny day with brisk easterly winds. An isolated snow shower may continue to clip the far southwest coastline and perhaps eastern counties. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Snow showers are likely to become more frequent and perhaps heavy as we head through the week, with significant snow accumulations for some. Even colder too with significant wind chill.

Updated: 14:42 on Sun 25 Feb 2018 GMT

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Headline:

Cold and windy with snow showers, mainly in the east.

This Evening and Tonight:

Dry, clear and cold for the majority with a widespread sharp frost. However, snow showers will move across eastern parts of the UK during the evening, turning a little heavier overnight. It will be a windy night for most too.

Monday:

Mostly dry with sunny spells across the west of the UK, but snow showers further east will become heavier and gradually spread further inland. Staying very cold and breezy.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Extremely cold with strong easterly winds giving a significant wind chill. Snow showers becoming more widespread each day, with the largest snowfalls across eastern Britain. Disruption is likely for many.

Updated: 14:42 on Sun 25 Feb 2018 GMT

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Friday 2 Mar 2018 to Sunday 11 Mar 2018:

Northern areas will be bright with further snow showers on Friday, but we could see heavier and disruptive snow developing across southern and some central areas, combined with strong to gale force easterly winds, leading to blizzard conditions. However, there is a an element of uncertainty with this. Thereafter, it is looking increasingly likely to be unsettled with a north-south split in temperatures across the UK. The coldest and driest conditions are likely in the far north and northwest. We may see areas of rain moving northeastwards from the southwest at times, which could well turn to snow across central and northern areas. It will be often windy with gales possible at times. Remaining cold for many, but nearer normal temperatures at times in the southern half of the UK.

UK Outlook for Monday 12 Mar 2018 to Monday 26 Mar 2018:

A blocked pattern remains most likely across much of the UK, with colder than average conditions, but possibly milder at times in the south and southwest. Further bitterly cold easterly winds are probable, giving a significant wind chill. There will continue to be a risk of snow across some central and northern areas, but in the far north and northwest it should be drier. Frosts will continue to be widespread and severe in places. As we head towards the middle of March it may turn more unsettled and less cold with milder and wetter weather spreading up from the south or southwest. This may lead to further significant snow in places although this remains very uncertain. Northern areas may hang on to the colder weather well into March.
