It will be a mostly dry and cloudy night. Just the odd patch of drizzle over the Southern Uplands. Staying mild overnight with fresh southwest winds. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Tuesday:

Staying mostly cloudy in the morning with the odd patch of drizzle over the hills. Some bright spells developing in the afternoon. Light southwest winds. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Dry, mostly cloudy Wednesday with strong southwest winds. Rain crossing overnight then drier, brighter, colder on Thursday. Rather cloudy and quite windy on Friday with a little rain in Southwest.

On Friday, cloud and rain are expected in northern areas, accompanied by windy conditions, with a risk of coastal gales and fog overnight. Southern areas will be mainly dry and brighter with lighter wind, although some drizzle is possible at times in western areas. Into the weekend high pressure in the southeast and low pressure in the northwest will lead to a continuation of this north to south split in conditions across the UK. For the rest of the period, there will likely be a continuation of predominantly dry and settled weather across most parts of the UK, especially the south. Some rain and strong winds are likely in the northwest at times. Temperatures overall likely to be close to average.

Frontal systems bringing rain and strong winds are expected in the northwest, perhaps spreading further into the southeast at times, although much of the south and southeast may stay largely dry.
