A fine day with patchy cloud and bright spells through the day, but increasingly breezy. Skies will turn cloudier later in the afternoon, with rain arriving later in the evening. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Outbreaks of rain will eventually reach all parts of the region by the late evening, and will continue through the early hours. A mild night, but staying breezy. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Tuesday:

A cloudy day, with outbreaks of rain which will turn heavy at times, and fairly breezy. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Mainly bright and breezy, with perhaps a few showers and Cool and rather windy, although winds easing down by Friday.

Unsettled this week, and cooler than recent days for many.

Today:

A mainly fine start with bright spells, although a little rain is possible over northern hills. Outbreaks of rain will arrive from the west during the day, reaching all but southeast England by late evening, with heavy bursts for some.

Tonight:

Clear spells and showers across Northern Ireland and Scotland. Turning drier by the morning in northern England, but rain continuing for many across the rest of England and Wales.

Tuesday:

Sunshine and showers for northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England, but turning cloudier later. A grey and wet day across England and Wales. Feeling cool.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Sunshine and showers, which will be frequent and heavy for many with a risk of hail and thunder. Lighter and less frequent in the south. Winds easing by Friday.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Saturday 28 Apr 2018 to Monday 7 May 2018:

Many northern areas will be dry with sunny spells on Saturday, although there remains the risk of some heavy showers. More unsettled conditions will arrive in the south, with a strengthening wind. These changeable conditions are then likely to spread to many parts as we head into early May with showers or longer spells of rain, but some drier and sunnier spells are likely too, particularly in the north and northwest. Winds will be brisk at times, and overall it will feel cool with the risk of frost overnight, mainly in the north. On the whole, temperatures will be close to average for the time of year, but it will feel cooler in the more unsettled spells.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 8 May 2018 to Tuesday 22 May 2018:

Mixed conditions will continue through early May, with changeable periods of weather bringing showery rain, interspersed with drier and brighter interludes. Some longer drier spells are possible across the northwest. Confidence reduces into the second half of May, but there are some signs of a generally drier, more settled spell of weather developing. Temperatures are likely to be variable at first although balancing out around average. If a more settled spell develops later in the month, then temperatures may become warmer than average.
