Bright spells and showers. Feeling rather cold.

Today:

There will be a mixture of bright spells and a few showers, some of these could be heavy with hail. Best of the sunny spells over the west coast and Hebrides. Feeling rather cold. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

Showers becoming mainly confined to the Hebrides and northwest coasts overnight. A cold night with clear spells leading to a touch of frost inland. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Saturday:

Mainly cloudy and rather cold with further showers. These could be quite prolonged and heavy in places. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Mostly dry and bright on Sunday. A dry start Monday but rain spreading east. Bright spells and the odd shower on Tuesday. Turning warmer.

UK long range weather forecast

In the first part of this period, many areas of the UK are expected to see periods of rain or showers. Some of these showers will be heavy and thundery, with the greatest chance of thunderstorms in the southeast. Along with this will be a fair amount of low cloud in the east at times, with spells of coastal fog, but also temperatures generally above average for the time of year. Overall, northwestern parts of the UK are likely to be driest and sunniest. Through the second week, temperatures will return closer to normal, perhaps dipping back below average, but it will also tend to turn gradually drier and more settled, with changeable conditions most likely to hang on longest in the south and southeast.

In this period, the chances of unsettled weather are slightly less than usual in the north and about the same as usual further south. Therefore, some spells of wetter weather are likely for all, but perhaps especially southern areas with the driest conditions probably further north. Temperatures probably near average though with some cooler interludes possible. Also worth noting that average temperatures themselves rise by around 1C per week at this time of year.
