Regional Forecast for East of England

Headline:

Cold start. Cloudy, and mostly dry, although some drizzle possible.

Today:

A cold and cloudy start, with some fog in places and isolated spots of drizzle. Cloud likely to break, with some brighter or sunny spells moving into North Sea coasts. However some inland areas staying cloudy, with further showers possible. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Any lingering outbreaks of rain soon easing. Clearer spells then developing, with the odd patch of frost and fog. However further cloud, and perhaps isolated showers, spreading north early Friday. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Friday:

Rather cloudy, although some brighter or sunny spell possible, and mostly dry. However the odd shower remaining possible, mainly along coastal parts. Feeling a little less cold than recent days. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Often cloudy with limited brighter or sunny spells. Generally dry, but with the risk of isolated showers. Temperatures near normal for November, despite some stronger winds at times.

Updated: 02:01 on Thu 22 Nov 2018 GMT

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Headline:

Cloud and rain in the east, brighter in the west.

Today:

Frost and icy patches to begin the day. Cloudy in the east with showery rain, most persistent in eastern Scotland. Elsewhere sunny to begin, but turning cloudier with showers reaching central and northwestern areas later in the afternoon.

Tonight:

Generally cloudy across the UK, with drizzle and outbreaks of rain persisting in the north. Some heavy showers are likely in south and southwest England. Fog patches likely elsewhere.

Friday:

Some frost and fog to start. Generally quite cloudy, though a few brighter spells possible. Scattered showers, especially near coasts. A risk of heavy, thundery showers in the southwest.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Updated: 02:03 on Thu 22 Nov 2018 GMT

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Monday 26 Nov 2018 to Wednesday 5 Dec 2018:

Many places will be dry early next week, but often with large amounts of cloud around. Eastern and perhaps southern parts however may continue to see some showers around initially, with the a few heavier showers possible. The west and southwest of the UK will then likely turn more unsettled as we finish November, with these conditions possibly progressing northeastwards. It will generally remain on the cold side for the time of year, with the risk of some frosty nights and also some transient hill snow. Into early December, there is a lot of uncertainty in the forecast, as there is the chance of either a short-lived milder spell with winds from the west, or perhaps colder but drier weather if the winds turn more northerly or northeasterly.

UK Outlook for Thursday 6 Dec 2018 to Thursday 20 Dec 2018:

Through this period, there is likely to be a continuation of cold and mainly dry weather for much of the UK, with sunny spells and a few showers. However, there is a chance the weather pattern may change temporarily, with fronts moving in from Atlantic. This would bring longer spells of rain, interspersed with brighter, showery interludes, and it would also become less cold. However, even if this change does happen, it won't be long before we have more settled weather again, perhaps by the middle of December. This would mean a return to colder conditions, with overnight frost and fog more likely.
