Regional Forecast for East of England

Headline:

Cloud and rain in the west, drier across East Anglia.

This Evening and Tonight:

Thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain will spread east into the west of the region overnight with some heavier bursts developing. However, much of East Anglia should stay dry with some clear spells. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Monday:

Rain across the west of the region will slowly die out during the morning, with most parts then generally dry and warm with some bright spells, especially in the east. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Sunny intervals and the odd shower Tuesday and Wednesday after some early mist or fog patches. Rain on Thursday clearing from the west to bright or sunny spells.

Updated: 13:42 on Sun 24 Sep 2017 BST

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Headline:

Rain for many overnight. Thick fog in Northern Ireland.

This Evening and Tonight:

A cloudy night is expected for most with patchy rain. East Anglia will stay dry though, and rain will clear from Wales, southwest England and the far west of Scotland. Thick fog will develop in parts of Northern Ireland.

Monday:

Once early fog clears, Northern Ireland, Wales and the far west of England and Scotland will have a bright and dry day. Elsewhere, cloud and rain are likely.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

After early fog clears, Tuesday will be mainly dry, bright and warm with a few showers. Rain in the far west on Wednesday afternoon will move eastwards, clearing by Thursday.

Updated: 15:09 on Sun 24 Sep 2017 BST

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Friday 29 Sep 2017 to Sunday 8 Oct 2017:

On Friday, strong winds and coastal gales are likely to affect Northern Ireland and western Scotland. A band of rain and strong winds may well move across the whole UK including some heavy bursts. Further wind and rain is likely to reach western areas over the weekend. The weather in the following week is likely to stay rather unsettled for all with spells of rain, locally heavy, spreading east, and brighter showery weather following along behind. It will be windy with the risk of gales in places, particularly across western coasts. Temperatures will be around average for the time of year, with brief warmer or cooler interludes. The changeable weather means that night frosts are quite unlikely, except in the mountains of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

UK Outlook for Monday 9 Oct 2017 to Monday 23 Oct 2017:

Changeable weather is likely to continue across the country in the second week in October, with wind and rain at times, especially in the north and west. This will bring an increased likelihood of gales as well as heavier rain across some parts. By mid October, confidence in the forecast reduces, but drier and brighter spells could become more prolonged, though it may well remain changeable, On the whole, temperatures are expected to be close to normal for the time of year, but in any settled spells there could be chilly nights, with an increased risk of mist, fog and frost, especially in the north.
