This Evening and Tonight:

It will be mostly dry this evening and tonight, although there will be some low cloud and mist lingering around some coastal districts. Some clear spells elsewhere. It will be another humid night for many. Minimum Temperature 13 °C.

Monday:

After a cloudy start it will soon brighten up to give some sunny spells. However, we may see isolated thunderstorms breaking out during the afternoon. Very warm and humid. Maximum Temperature 26 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Tuesday will start fine and dry, with some warm sunshine, but with the chance of thunderstorms later and into Wednesday. Sunny spells and scattered thundery showers on Thursday. Staying warm.

What are tides?

Tides refer to the rise and fall of a body of water, most commonly seen in the oceans; caused by the interaction between the moon, sun and Earth.

As the positions of Earth, sun and moon change in relation to each other, the gravitational pull and centrifugal forces acting upon the oceans vary and it is these differences that cause fluctuation in the height of the sea which we see at the tides going out and in.

In the UK we mostly experience a semi-diurnal tide which means we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. These occur approximately every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
