Today:

Brisk northerly winds will bring showers and sunny spells, these showers may be occasionally sleety, especially on hills. It will feel chilly in the wind. Maximum Temperature 6 °C.

Tonight:

All places will become dry this evening and overnight with long clear periods. A widespread frost will form with generally light winds. Minimum Temperature -3 °C.

Saturday:

Early frost will lift, then mainly dry with sunny spells, and possible showers west of London. Feeling cold in brisk northwesterly winds. Then frosty overnight with freezing fog patches. Maximum Temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Frosty, locally foggy early Sunday, becoming milder with intermittent rain and freshening winds. Rain clearing overnight perhaps a frost, then milder, breezier on Monday and Tuesday, sometimes bright, occasionally drizzly.

What are tides?

Tides refer to the rise and fall of a body of water, most commonly seen in the oceans; caused by the interaction between the moon, sun and Earth.

As the positions of Earth, sun and moon change in relation to each other, the gravitational pull and centrifugal forces acting upon the oceans vary and it is these differences that cause fluctuation in the height of the sea which we see at the tides going out and in.

In the UK we mostly experience a semi-diurnal tide which means we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. These occur approximately every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
