This Evening and Tonight:

Wet and breezy with rain spreading steadily northwards this evening. Misty with widespread low cloud bringing persistent and at times heavy rain across the region. Some drier interludes in the east by morning, although remaining overcast. Milder than recent nights. Minimum temperature 14 °C.

Wednesday:

A rather warm day, however heavy rain continues to plague the southwest. Light winds lead to rather prolonged downpours, bringing a risk of thunderstorms and localised flooding across the region. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

More settled on Thursday with light winds, sunny spells and isolated light showers, before turning cloudy, wet and windy on Friday. A scattering of showers in the southwest on Saturday.

There is potential for a deep area of low pressure to pass over or close to the west/northwest of the UK early in this period, potentially bringing a spell of very strong winds and heavy rain, especially to parts of the north and west. Through next week, an oscillation between occasional spells of rain, most frequent in the northwest, with longer drier interludes in-between, is likely. It may be rather windy at times too, again especially in northern and western areas. Towards late October there are signs that, whilst northwestern areas may continue to see some rain at times, high pressure may become increasingly influential, potentially bringing more widely settled and drier conditions, with an increasing chance of overnight frost and fog.

High pressure may become more influential into early November, potentially providing longer spells of dry weather, but with the chance of overnight frost and fog becoming rather more widespread than in the days preceding this period. Some large fluctuations between daytime and night-time temperatures are possible, with relatively mild days where fog doesn't linger, and cold frosty nights. Towards mid-November, high pressure may become more focussed towards the northwest of the UK, allowing a gradual trend towards colder and perhaps more unsettled conditions, especially in more southern and eastern areas.
