Cloud with patchy rain pushing erratically northwards.

This Evening and Tonight:

Northern areas are likely to become dry and largely clear for a time, before cloud and patchy rain already across southern areas gradually extends northwards. Winds are expected to ease. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Sunday:

Rain during the morning, locally heavy, clearing most areas through the afternoon, although patchy light rain may linger along southern coasts. Bright or sunny spells developing for northern areas. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Mostly dry on Monday with sunny spells. Tuesday becoming windy, chance of rain at times. Wednesday probably starting with heavy rain, this eventually clearing and drier and brighter conditions following.

A north/south split in weather conditions is likely over the latter part of next week, with rain and showers affecting the north, while the south holds on to drier weather. It may be windy at times, especially across the north and northwest, where gales are possible. Temperatures close to normal in the north and feeling rather mild in the south. Unsettled weather continues for many into the following week, with showers in northern areas likely to spread southwards. High pressure may develop across the UK throughout the rest of the period, with occasional frontal systems bringing some periods of rain. However, towards the end of the period, deep lower pressure is expected. Temperatures generally returning to above normal, however, cooler nights could make way for potential mist and fog.

We may see lower pressure dominating through the rest of October. This lower pressure regime is likely to bring periods of rain across the UK, but some drier spells and potential mist and fog can be expected too, most likely at the beginning of the period. Temperatures likely to remain above normal throughout.
