Remaining showers fading for a time to leave a mild night with clear spells and some fog patches developing inland. Further, areas of heavy showery rain perhaps possible towards dawn. Minimum temperature 15 °C.

Tuesday:

A mostly dry but cloudy start for many away from the south coast where showers continue. Heavy thundery showers then developing for all by late morning, continuing into the afternoon. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Changeable and often breezy, with a mixture of sunshine and showers, some heavy and thundery. Perhaps more generally wet for a time later Thursday into Friday. Feeling less warm.

It will remain changeable through much of this period, with most parts of the UK seeing a mixture of dry, sunny periods together with showers or some longer spells of rain at times. Over the coming weekend sunny spells and heavy showers are likely for many areas. Into early next week these showers will probably become confined to eastern and northern parts of the UK, with the driest conditions in the west and southwest. From the middle of next week onward, we will likely see a continuation of mixed conditions bringing sunny spells but also some heavy showers, perhaps with more prolonged periods of rain at times. Temperatures are expected to be around or just below average.

Changeable conditions look likely to continue through the start of this period, with sunny spells mixed in with some showers at times or longer spells of rain, these more prevalent in the northwest. Although confidence in the detail is low, there are tentative signals suggesting that high pressure may become more dominant during the middle of August, bringing more settled, drier and warmer conditions for many. There would still be a risk of showers or thunderstorms at times. Temperatures are most likely to be above average.
