Today:

Frosty start in places. Generally fine and bright with sunny spells, although cloudier across western parts where a few daytime showers may develop. Remaining dry elsewhere. Light winds. Cool but feeling pleasant in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

Temperatures falling away under clearer skies with overnight frost patches forming in rural spots. Cloud will gradually thicken from the west, with patchy rain reaching far western parts around dawn. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Tuesday:

Fine start in the east. Bands of rain will swing eastward, turning heavy and persistent at times. Brightening up from the west later with isolated showers persisting overnight. Becoming windy. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Cloudy Wednesday, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle from late-morning. Sunny spells Thursday with locally thundery showers. Heavy rain overnight into Friday, gradually clearing Friday afternoon to showers. Windy throughout.

Some dry weather at first in parts of the north and east on Friday, but heavy rain and strong winds moving in from the west or southwest through the day. Some uncertainty in the details but the heaviest rain and strongest winds most likely affecting parts of the south and west. Thereafter, a predominantly unsettled pattern continues, with showers or longer spells of rain for many, although these interspersed with brief drier or brighter spells. By the second week of April, perhaps the greater chance of drier conditions will be across the north, albeit with some overnight frost. Further south, a higher likelihood of further wet weather at times. Overall, temperatures probably averaging out close to normal.

A general trend to less unsettled conditions is likely into April, with rain-bearing weather systems more likely to affect southern areas from time to time. However, most areas are likely to see some spells of dry weather, with potentially frost and some fog overnight, this most likely in the north. A possibility of strong winds at times, with temperatures generally close to average for the time of year.
