Any lingering showers and thunderstorms clearing through the evening. Clear spells soon replaced with a blanket of cloud thickening from the east overnight, perhaps with the odd spot of drizzle around hills. Rather mild. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Saturday:

After a cloudy start, scattered showers develop, heavy at times and bringing a risk of hail, thunderstorms and gusty winds. Feeling slightly humid but warm in any afternoon sunny spells. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

A band of persistent rain, heavy at times, pushes north-eastwards through Sunday and Monday, marking a change to cooler and cloudier conditions by Tuesday, in a light northerly wind.

The period is expected to begin on an unsettled note, with a spell of cloud, wind and rain sweeping across much of the UK. Rain is likely to be heavy in places, and there is a small chance that the winds could end up strong enough to cause some disruption. An exception to this may well be the far north of the UK, which could remain in a colder, more showery regime from earlier in the week. Winds are expected to turn towards the north following this, with the colder, showery type spreading countrywide, before easing through the weekend as a more settled spell develops. The following week is likely to stay fairly unsettled or at least changeable for all, with temperatures rising back to near average.

Typical autumn weather will probably affect the UK with a mix of weather types through the first half of October. Periods of unsettled conditions, with wind and rain at times, will likely be interspersed with shorter spells of calmer and drier weather. Overall, wetter than average conditions are expected during this period, especially in central and southern areas. Temperatures are most likely to be close to or slightly above average overall, although some cooler spells are possible at times.
