Some brightness along the west coast, especially this morning. Otherwise a rather cloudy and mainly dry day. A few showers breaking out this afternoon. Feeling mild especially across western Argyll. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Any showers dying out this evening. Then the rest of the night will be mostly cloudy and generally dry, a little drizzle possible across Lanarkshire. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Saturday:

Mainly dry and rather cloudy, some brighter spells along the west coast. Feeling somewhat colder, especially in the east. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Mainly dry on Sunday. Dry with some brightness on Monday. Mostly dry on Tuesday but a little rain possible along the west coast.

UK long range weather forecast

The start of this period is likely to be rather changeable, with weather systems moving in from the west to bring showers and longer spells of rain. Drier, brighter interludes are expected at times, however these may be short-lived as further bands of rain move in. Wettest conditions are most likely across southern and western parts of the UK, while the north and east are expected to remain drier. The latter part of this period looks to become more settled, particularly in northern parts where there is potential for high pressure to take over. Further south, more wetter interludes are expected. Stronger winds at times, although temperatures remaining close to average. There is a chance of cooler conditions and overnight frosts where skies clear in the north and east.

This period has potential to see a split in conditions between the north and south of the UK. Any unsettled weather is more likely to take a southerly track, while higher pressure to the north should provide generally drier weather. Overall, somewhere drier in comparison to March across the country. Temperatures are uncertain, but there remains a chance of colder conditions, especially to the north and east where overnight frost risk remains.
