Today:

Mainly dry over Dumfries and Galloway with some warm sunshine. Cloudier over Lothians and Borders with showers edging from southeast during afternoon, perhaps turning heavy in the far east. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy in the east with showers at first, gradually dying out. Dumfries and Galloway will be dry with clear periods developing. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Monday:

A mainly dry and colder day with sunny spells developing. It will cloud over later in afternoon with rain spreading from west in the evening. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Wet, windy Tuesday morning. Brighter with blustery showers and strong northwest winds Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday. Fewer showers Thursday but still quite windy. Feeling colder.

Initially cool with northerly winds providing showers along exposed northern, western and eastern coasts, but also a few inland at times too, although central and southern areas may stay fairly dry and sunny. Showers wintry on the mountain tops in Scotland. Towards the end of the week and into the weekend it will likely turn more widely drier for a time, especially in central and southern areas, with the greater chance of rain and blustery conditions in the north and northwest. A gradual recovery in temperature is also expected as winds become more westerly. By the following week, while confidence is low a trend towards more settled conditions is most likely, accompanied by warmer temperatures. That said, some rain or showers are still possible, especially in the south and/or northwest.

The focus for wetter weather overall is more likely to return to north and especially northwestern areas, whilst southern and eastern areas have a greater chance of being drier relative to earlier in the month. Temperatures are likely to be around average overall, though with greater potential for brief spells of warm weather in the south.
