Cloudy with a little light rain or drizzle spreading northeast this morning, mainly over coasts and hills. This afternoon will be dry and rather cloudy. A mild day. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Dry and mostly cloudy this evening. The rest of the night will remain dry with a good deal of cloud. A mild night. Freshening southwesterly breeze later. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Saturday:

Rain will reach western Argyll by late morning and spread southeast across all parts for a time in the afternoon. Drier and clearer weather following on behind. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Starting off frosty in places on Sunday then dry and bright. Dry on Monday and Tuesday although a little rain on Monday night.

On Tuesday, remaining largely settled with good spells of sunshine is the most likely scenario. Overnight a band of cloud and rain to the north and northwest will sink southeast, easing as it progresses, with a very small chance of some patchy snow across parts of central UK. Risk of showers into northwest, possibly wintry, accompanied by strong to gale force winds. Chilly overnight, with temperatures by day generally around average. Thereafter, high pressure is expected to dominate the UK, with largely fine conditions, especially towards southeastern areas. More changeable in the northwest with periods of stronger winds and rain. Frosts possible overnight. Rather cold to average by day. There is a small and possibly diminishing chance of much colder conditions for a time across the south.

This period is likely to be characterised by changeable weather, with unsettled and windy conditions, especially in the northwest. The best of the settled conditions in the east and southeast. Temperatures likely average or slightly milder than average, with a chance of short-lived colder spells.
