Today:

Frosty start for many. A fine day follows with light winds and plenty of sunshine. Some wintry showers likely around coasts, these largely fading by early-afternoon. Dry elsewhere. Feeling rather cold. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Temperatures dropping under clear skies with an overnight frost forming in eastern parts. Cloud will gradually thicken from the west bringing patchy rain to the Yorkshire Dales around dawn. Cold. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Tuesday:

Brighter in the east initially. Bands of rain will continue to spread eastward, turning heavy at times. Possibly falling as snow over highest hills. Breezy. Becoming drier overnight. Feeling milder. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Patchy rain and drizzle pushing eastward Wednesday, turning more persistent. Heaviest further west. Sunny spells Thursday with blustery showers, possibly thundery. Rainy start for most Friday, becoming drier and brighter.

Some uncertainty in the details but the heaviest rain and strongest winds most likely affecting parts of the south and west. Thereafter, a predominantly unsettled pattern continues, with showers or longer spells of rain for many, although these interspersed with brief drier or brighter spells. By the second week of April, perhaps the greater chance of drier conditions will be across the north, albeit with some overnight frost. Further south, a higher likelihood of further wet weather at times. Overall, temperatures probably averaging out close to normal.

However, most areas are likely to see some spells of dry weather, with potentially frost and some fog overnight, this most likely in the north. A possibility of strong winds at times, with temperatures generally close to average for the time of year.
