North East England weather forecast

Showers easing to a clear night.

This Evening and Tonight:

Showers largely fading during the evening to leave a dry and mild night with plenty of clear spells. There remains the risk of fog patches developing over hills. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

A dry and bright start but perhaps cloudier toward coasts. Heavy thundery showers then likely developing by late morning, continuing into the evening. Generally less warm. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Perhaps wet to start Wednesday but otherwise more changeable and breezy through this period, with a mixture of sunshine and showers, some heavy and thundery. Temperatures lower than recently.

UK long range weather forecast

It will remain changeable through much of this period, with most parts of the UK seeing a mixture of dry, sunny periods together with showers or some longer spells of rain at times. Over the coming weekend sunny spells and heavy showers are likely for many areas. Into early next week these showers will probably become confined to eastern and northern parts of the UK, with the driest conditions in the west and southwest. From the middle of next week onward, we will likely see a continuation of mixed conditions bringing sunny spells but also some heavy showers, perhaps with more prolonged periods of rain at times. Temperatures are expected to be around or just below average.

Changeable conditions look likely to continue through the start of this period, with sunny spells mixed in with some showers at times or longer spells of rain, these more prevalent in the northwest. Although confidence in the detail is low, there are tentative signals suggesting that high pressure may become more dominant during the middle of August, bringing more settled, drier and warmer conditions for many. There would still be a risk of showers or thunderstorms at times. Temperatures are most likely to be above average.
