This Evening and Tonight:

Heavy, blustery showers and a few sunny spells this evening, the showers becoming largely confined to the far north and west overnight. Long clear spells developing towards the Great Glen. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Sunday:

Dry, bright start in the east, but occasionally heavy, blustery showers, with hill snow, will push eastwards across the region through the day, giving some longer spells of rain. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Frequent showers throughout Monday, easing into the evening. Drier and brighter on Tuesday with a scattering of showers. Cloudier on Wednesday with a little rain at times.

Winds from the north or northwest are expected to affect the UK at the start of this period. Some showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, these heaviest across the north and northwest, though systems still likely reaching the south east on Thursday. Temperatures are expected to mostly be below normal edging toward average or just above into the new week. Through the weekend and into the new week a build of pressure will probably occur, meaning more in the way of dry weather across the UK as a whole. Some rain of light showers will still be possible at times, if these develop they will be more likely to affect the northwest.

Towards the end of April, high pressure will probably be close to the UK with a good deal of dry weather for many areas. Moving into May, these settled conditions will probably move northwards, with the driest weather across the northwest of the UK. If any more unsettled conditions develop these are more likely to affect south with a risk of some heavy rain or showers. Temperatures will probably be close to average overall, with warm days but some colder nights.
