Bright spells and blustery showers. The showers will be most frequent and heavy at times in the west, with driest brightest weather towards Inverness. Strong, gusty westerly winds. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Clear spells with blustery and at times heavy showers continue into the night. The fresh to strong westerly wind and the showers will then slowly ease from midnight. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Saturday:

Bright or sunny spells with scattered showers Saturday, the best of the sunshine across eastern parts. The wind turns southwesterly as it freshens Saturday. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Persistent heavy rain spreading east on Sunday, followed by sunny spells and occasional showers on Monday. Windy at times. Wind eases as rain extends across southern and western parts Tuesday.

This period is likely to be characterised by unsettled weather with showers and longer periods of rain for most areas. Largely a dry, cloudy Tuesday for all with the chance of patchy rain developing over the northwest later in the day. For the remainder of the period, further bands of rain are expected across the country with drier spells between them. Overall the west and northwest seeing the heaviest and most frequent rain, whilst the east will experience more dry sunny spells. Rain is likely to be accompanied by strong winds with a risk of gales in exposed regions of the northwest throughout. Temperatures generally near normal, with the occasional cooler night bringing the chance of mist and fog in places.

Changeable conditions are expected to continue throughout the period, with bands of rain and showers likely across most of the country. Temperatures are likely to remain near to normal overall throughout. However, there is an increasing chance of some more settled weather from late October, although it may also be accompanied by colder conditions with mist or fog and frost.
