Mainly dry, bright. Caithness coasts misty. Rain to far west.

Today:

A lot of dry weather for Tuesday with brighter spells increasing from mid-morning. However, mist, low cloud lingering into afternoon across Caithness coasts, and patchy rain edging into the far west by mid-day, before turning heavy towards early evening. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

East seeing late sunshine. Area of heavy rain in far west spreading to rest of region late evening, clearing to north overnight, with brighter spells and showers following from southwest. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Wednesday:

Rather cloudy start with fairly frequent showers. Showers dwindling from mid-afternoon as bright and sunny spells prosper. Winds freshening around the western coasts and Isles. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Showery with occasional brighter spells. Showers heavy at times, also merging to longer periods of rain sporadically.

UK long range weather forecast

On Sunday and into the start of next week, southern parts of the UK likely staying mostly fine and dry with light winds. Still a chance of showers, and a low risk that some of these will be heavy at times. Further north it is likely to be cloudier and breezier, particularly around coasts, with showers that could merge into some longer spells of rain. Temperatures close to average, but perhaps below average in the northwest, though it will still feel warm in the sunshine. Towards the end of next week, rain or showers are possible, most likely in the northeast by this stage, where it will be breezy. Drier further southwest with lighter winds. Most areas becoming mainly dry through the end of May.

Into June, temperatures are likely to be above average across the south but closer to average further north. Toward mid-June it may turn less settled across the north of the UK, bringing rain or showers, while the south may remain largely fine.
