A ridge of high pressure extending westwards across the British Isles giving a good deal of fine conditions and lighter winds in the north will start to decline into the weekend. Stronger easterly or northeasterly winds will affect southern coastlines at times and showers, perhaps thundery are possible across southern waters later on Friday.

The coastal waters around the British Isles are divided into 19 areas which extend up to 12 nautical miles offshore.
The forecast contains details of wind direction and force, sea state, weather and visibility.
Strong coastal winds (force 6 or more) are displayed for the first 24 hours of the inshore waters forecast.
