South West England weather forecast

Headline:

Dry and bright in the east. Rain arriving from west.

Today:

Early mist and fog patches clearing to give some bright or warm sunny spells, especially in the east. Rather murky around western coasts. A band of rain will reach western parts in the afternoon, gradually moving eastwards. Breezier. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Tonight:

A band of cloud and outbreaks of rain, locally heavy, will continue to move eastwards, clearing by midnight. Becoming drier, but staying rather misty, especially on coasts and hills. Mild. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Saturday:

A few scattered showers possible at first, but generally a largely dry and bright day, with warm sunny spells. Turning misty and murky with patchy drizzle around western coasts later. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

After a murky start, largely fine and dry with sunny spells Sunday. Mostly fine and dry, with bright or sunny spells on Monday and Tuesday. Feeling warmer and humid too.

Updated:

UK long range weather forecast

Predominantly fine and settled at first for much of the country and much warmer than we have seen in recent weeks. However, some thicker cloud could bring some outbreaks of mostly light to northwestern areas. There is some uncertainty in how long this warm, settled weather will persist over the UK and there is a chance that conditions could transition back closer to average towards the end of next week. This transition brings with it the risk of some showers or longer periods of rain and potentially some thunderstorms, particularly in the south, from the end of next week. However, the remainder of the period is more likely to be settled with temperatures above average.

Updated:

Signals for this period are fairly weak and thus, it's difficult to say if any one type of weather pattern will dominate. As such, typical conditions for the UK are most probable with a mixture of weather types. All areas can expected to see some spells of drier, sunnier weather, but there will also be showers or longer spells of rain at times. Currently the only signals, weak as they are, hint that rain and showers will tend to be more biased towards the north and west, with any more prolonged drier interludes favouring the south. Temperatures are slightly more likely than normal to be above average, than below.
