Today:

Early mist and fog clearing to leave a dry and mainly sunny day, although patchy cloud possible through County Down. Warmest in the west with light east or northeast winds. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

Dry and bright at first but some areas of low cloud developing through the evening and overnight, particularly over southern counties and the north Antrim hills. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Saturday:

Fairly widespread areas of cloud at first but these should lift and break to allow for some bright or sunny weather through the afternoon. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Cloudy with a few heavier showers possible Sunday morning, brighter in the afternoon. Winds turning northerly from Monday bringing some showers and a fresher feel to the weather.

Some rain across southeastern parts, lighter and not as extensive as previous days and tending to ease away to the southeast by the end of Tuesday. Elsewhere, generally settled conditions prevailing for most places, although with a band of cloud and some rain moving across the far north, particularly the northwest and a few showers moving into western parts further south. Temperatures likely a bit cooler than previous days. A transition to a generally more unsettled, mobile westerly pattern is most likely by midweek and beyond, with spells of wind and rain moving into many areas, but more especially in the south. Towards the end of the week, much cooler, showery conditions are expected for many parts with the north and west likely being a focus for these showers.

Typical autumn weather will probably affect the UK with a mix of weather types through the first half of October. Periods of unsettled conditions, with wind and rain at times, will likely be interspersed with shorter spells of calmer and drier weather. Overall, wetter than average conditions are expected during this period, especially in central and southern areas. Temperatures are most likely to be close to or slightly above average overall, although some cooler spells are possible at times.
