A frosty start for most to a dry day with some long spells of sunshine developing. Argyll stays largely sunny through much of the day, however cloud spreads west across the rest of the area, but it should remain dry. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Remaining dry through the evening and overnight with long clear spells, although around and to the east of Glasgow there will be rather more cloud at times. Rural frost developing. Minimum temperature -3 °C.

Saturday:

A bright start with some sunny spells but cloud gradually increasing. Many places will remain dry although a little afternoon rain, especially in the west, is likely. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Sunny spells on Sunday but cloudier with patchy rain later. Dry and sunny on Monday. Cold, sunny morning Tuesday but cloudier with rain and hill snow spreading northeast in afternoon.

Heavy rain will spread eastwards across Wales and parts of southern and central England through Tuesday, though northern and eastern areas should remain mostly dry and bright through the day. Towards the end of the week it should turn milder with a risk of prolonged rainlikely across western parts with the possibility of some transient hill snow. There is also a risk strong winds and coastal gales. Towards the end of the period strong winds and coastal gales accomanined by rain may continue across western areas with more settled conditions likely to develop in eastern parts. This would bring a risk of frost and fog developing overnight across eastern parts and possibly more widespread later.

Through early December, confidence remains very low but there could be a period of more settled weather across much of the UK.
