Wales weather forecast

Headline:

Cold, frosty and sunny once mist and fog clears.

Today:

Another cold and frosty start but largely dry with plenty of autumnal sunshine once any mist and fog clears. Perhaps the odd coastal shower which could bring the odd flurry of hill snow inland. Staying cold, particularly in the breeze. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Tonight:

A cold night with the return of a widespread, sharp frost. Staying dry with some icy stretches possible and a risk of overnight mist and freezing fog. Easing winds. Minimum temperature -3 °C.

Friday:

A cold end to the week with frost to start. Then dry with plenty of sunshine once any early morning fog clears. Feeling rather chilly. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Cold and sunny on Saturday with the odd wintry flurry over hills. Cloudier from Sunday though largely dry and still feeling chilly. A risk of rain and showers on Monday.

UK long range weather forecast

A fair amount of uncertainty at the start of this period as milder and more generally unsettled conditions towards the south and west try and extend further north and east. It is likely that northern and perhaps some eastern areas will start off cold with further overnight frosts and wintry showers in places. Indeed, northern Scotland may remain on the cold side, at least for the first few days of this period. Elsewhere, milder, or at least less cold weather than the preceding days, with areas of rain and stronger winds, this erratically spreading further north and east with time. Moving towards mid December and more generally unsettled and milder conditions look most probable with any colder interludes likely to be short-lived.

Updated:

Conditions are most likely to be changeable through this period. Wetter and windier than average conditions are slightly more likely than normal, especially in the west and northwest. Temperatures are most likely to be near or above average overall, although this doesn't rule out some spells of cold weather and associated wintry hazards, though the chances of any prolonged spells of cold weather are low.
