Any fog soon clearing then mild with hazy sunshine.

Today:

Areas of fog and low cloud mainly across the east of the region will clear through the morning, leading to a dry afternoon with spells of hazy sunshine. In the sunshine it will feel remarkably mild for February. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Dry with often clear skies across Cornwall overnight, but elsewhere areas of mist and low cloud will develop, with some patchy fog in the east of the region by morning. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Saturday:

Low cloud and fog will largely clear inland by midday with sunny spells developing, but some mist may linger over southern coasts throughout the day. Remaining dry, with light breezes. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Remaining mild throughout, with spells of sunshine and patchy fog overnight on Sunday and Monday. Cloudier and mistier at first on Tuesday, but sunny spells developing later.

Wednesday and Thursday may start with some patchy fog and cloud, but for most it will be largely fine and mild later on with some sunny spells. However, in northwest Scotland it will be a different picture, with cloudier skies and some rain coming through at times. Temperatures will stay on the mild side for the time of year, though overnight frosts are still possible. By early March we are likely to see much more unsettled conditions as weather fronts bring stronger winds, gales and rain at times to all parts of the UK. It will also be a little colder than recently, with snow over some of the hills and mountains in the north.

The weather looks to be fairly unsettled through this period, with a mixture of wet and windy weather for many parts, but also with some drier spells from time to time. The heaviest of the rain is likely to be in the northwest. Snow remains possible over the hills and mountains in the north, but it is less likely anywhere else. Milder conditions remain more likely, perhaps with occasional colder spells which could bring overnight frosts. The best chance of dry and sunny weather will be in the south and east.
