Unsettled with widespread showers across the country.

Today:

A cloudy day for many with showers lingering across central and southern parts, turning heavier in the afternoon with a risk of thunder. Brighter in the north with warm, sunny spells through the morning, though clouding over by the afternoon. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Tonight:

A cloudy night with scattered showers continuing through the evening. Drier interludes for a time, before a second band of heavy, perhaps thundery, showers arrives from the east by dawn. Minimum temperature 14 °C.

Sunday:

Widespread showers, heavy at times, continue for much of the day, clearing to the north by the evening. Brighter conditions in the south by the afternoon bringing occasional sunny spells. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

A cloudy but dry start to the week with occasional sunny spells through Monday. Turning cooler and breezier with widespread showers on Tuesday, becoming isolated in coastal parts by Wednesday.

This period is expected to start off on a very cool note, with winds from the north or northwest bringing reasonable amounts of sunshine, particularly to southern areas, but also fairly frequent showers to the north, especially coasts and hills. Showers could be of sleet or snow on some of the highest mountain tops. A gradual recovery in temperatures is expected through the rest of the week as winds become more westerly, the focus of rain then changing to west and northwest areas, whilst southern parts likely see a good deal of fine weather. By the following week, confidence is very low, but more settled conditions than of late are most likely overall, especially in the north, and accompanied by warmer temperatures. Any unsettled spells more likely further south.

The focus for wetter weather overall tis more likely to return to north and especially northwestern areas, whilst southern and eastern areas have a greater chance of being drier relative to earlier in the month. Temperatures are likely to be around average overall, though with greater potential for brief spells of warm weather in the south.
