Today:

A misty morning with low cloud and patchy drizzle clinging to the Gower Peninsula at first, but plenty of sunny spells to come. By midday, any mist and fog clearing, giving give plenty of warm sunshine across the country. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

Dry and settled tonight, with cloud thickening across the north. Further south, turning chilly under clear skies, with mist and fog forming in rural parts in the early hours. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Tuesday:

Any early mist and fog soon clearing to leave another dry and fine day. Plenty of sunshine across the country, and feeling warm with light and variable winds. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Dry and settled this week with warm sunshine by day, but cooler nights with mist and fog developing. Becoming breezier by Friday, with easterly winds strengthening through the Bristol Channel.

Settled but often cloudy across many central and northern areas through the weekend, with the best of the sun found to the west of high ground. Whereas showers and some thunderstorms are expected by day across the south. Most places away from North Sea coasts will see above average temperatures through the weekend. Early next week, the risk of showers and thunderstorms will reduce across the south, with a very short-lived settled spell likely as the transition occurs. Following this transition areas of cloud, rain and stronger winds are expected to push in from the west once again, but the focus for this heavy rain is likely to be across the southern half of the UK, with more settled conditions perhaps holding on for the longest in the north.

Typical autumn weather will probably affect the UK with a mix of weather types at the end of September and during early October. Periods of wet, unsettled weather will likely be broken up by some spells of more settled, drier weather. Overall, the wettest conditions will probably be in the west with the east drier. Temperatures are most likely to be close to or slightly above average.
