Wales weather forecast

Headline:

Heavy rain clearing, then sunshine and showers.

Today:

Heavy rain clearing the northeast, leaving a drier day with some sunshine. However, a risk of showers developing, especially in the south, which may be on the heavy side. Lighter winds, and feeling pleasant in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

Showers continuing into this evening and overnight in the south, though many places dry with some clear spells. Staying rather breezy in the far west, and another generally mild night. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Wednesday:

Any low cloud breaking then another day of sunshine and showers, the showers heavy at times, perhaps with the odd rumble of thunder during the afternoon. Warm in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Changeable with sunny spells and scattered showers. Showers may be heavy and thundery at times. Still warm where you catch the sunshine, although with temperatures closer to average.

UK long range weather forecast

The weather will be changeable, with daytime showers continuing across the UK on Sunday and possibly Monday. The heaviest showers and greatest risk of thunderstorms is expected across southern parts, while northern areas are more likely to see drier, more settled conditions developing for a time. Temperatures will be generally around or just a little above average. With winds tending to be light, it will feel warm in sunnier areas. As we head further into the following week, confidence lowers into the following week. On balance, a continuation of the showers in the south seems most likely, with the north continuing to see the best of any drier weather. Temperatures will probably remain a little above average.

Updated:

Signals during this period are weak and offer limited guidance beyond climatology. Similar weather conditions to those of the preceding few days are most likely to characterise this period to the end of May; a mixture of unsettled periods with rain and showers and settled interludes in-between. By early June, the chances of above and below average rainfall are evenly balanced. There is a slightly higher likelihood of above average temperatures compared with below average temperatures, such that the chance of hot spells, although still very small, is slightly higher than normal too.
