Cloudy with an increasing risk of showers throughout the weekend.

Today:

Saturday will be rather cloudy for many with the chance of some showers breaking out, especially during the afternoon when they could turn heavy. Northern areas are likely to catch the best of any brighter breaks. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

Heavy showers continue through this evening, becoming widespread and turning thundery by the end of the night. Breezy, and feeling rather humid outside the showers. Minimum temperature 15 °C.

Sunday:

An unsettled, showery morning, heaviest in the west, before brightening up by the afternoon. A few light showers linger in the north, though sunny spells developing elsewhere. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Settled on Monday with occasional sunny spells, though turning cool and unsettled once more on Tuesday with showers widely across the region. Dry, but remaining cool on Wednesday.

Initially cool with northerly winds providing showers along exposed northern, western and eastern coasts, but also a few inland at times too, although central and southern areas may stay fairly dry and sunny. Showers wintry on the mountain tops in Scotland. Towards the end of the week and into the weekend it will likely turn more widely drier for a time, especially in central and southern areas, with the greater chance of rain and blustery conditions in the north and northwest. A gradual recovery in temperature is also expected as winds become more westerly. By the following week, while confidence is low a trend towards more settled conditions is most likely, accompanied by warmer temperatures. That said, some rain or showers are still possible, especially in the south and/or northwest.

The focus for wetter weather overall tis more likely to return to north and especially northwestern areas, whilst southern and eastern areas have a greater chance of being drier relative to earlier in the month. Temperatures are likely to be around average overall, though with greater potential for brief spells of warm weather in the south.
