Widely warm and sunny today. Rain, occasionally heavy overnight.

Today:

Dry with long spells of sunshine and mainly light winds. Warm or locally very warm. Cloudier by the end of the afternoon with a chance of heavy rain in the far west. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Tonight:

A band of occasionally heavy rain moves east during the evening, clearing after midnight to leave dry conditions and partly cloudy skies. Breezy over hills for a time. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Wednesday:

Dry, warm and sunny for much of the day with gentle winds. Increasing cloud in the southwest by dusk. Rain, perhaps thundery and torrential in places overnight spreading east. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Thursday will be mostly sunny and dry. A bright start Friday, showers or more persistent, heavier rain later. Dry, rather sunny on Saturday. Fairly warm, though cooler than of late.

UK long range weather forecast

On Sunday and into the start of next week, southern parts of the UK likely staying mostly fine and dry with light winds. Still a chance of showers, and a low risk that some of these will be heavy at times. Further north it is likely to be cloudier and breezier, particularly around coasts, with showers that could merge into some longer spells of rain. Temperatures close to average, but perhaps below average in the northwest, though it will still feel warm in the sunshine. Towards the end of next week, rain or showers are possible, most likely in the northeast by this stage, where it will be breezy. Drier further southwest with lighter winds. Most areas becoming mainly dry through the end of May.

There is a trend towards more settled patterns and overall drier conditions for the beginning of this period. This will generally lead to fine and dry weather across much of the UK, but some showers or longer spells of rain are still possible in places. Temperatures will probably be above average at first but may become nearer to average through mid-June, with some warm spells remaining possible.
