East Midlands weather forecast

Headline:

Becoming cloudy and breezy with some rain.

Today:

Early brightness soon giving way to encroaching cloud and rain from the west, with winds strengthening. Rain perhaps turning heavier for a time into the afternoon before easing later. Rather cool throughout, with this accentuated by the breeze. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

Drier through the evening, although the Peak District may retain low cloud and some light rain and drizzle. Some mist and fog developing in clearer spots more generally later. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Wednesday:

Driest and brightest during the morning, with some sunny intervals. Cloudier later, with some showery outbreaks of rain arriving. Mild but breezy, with temperatures higher than on Tuesday. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Generally unsettled, with Thursday probably brightest but showery ahead of cloudier conditions and perhaps more prolonged rain for a time on Friday and Saturday. Relatively mild.

UK long range weather forecast

Cloudy for most with showers on Saturday, possibly merging into longer periods of rain. The best of any brightness is likely to be in the southwest but here too there will likely be showers, perhaps heavy with a risk of thunder. Winds light to moderate, perhaps strong in the far north and around some coasts in the southwest. As we move further into April we are likely to see a gradual trend toward more settled conditions with perhaps the greater chance of drier conditions across the north, albeit with some overnight frost. Further south, there is a higher likelihood of further wet weather at times. Overall, temperatures probably averaging out to be close to normal.

Updated:

Likely a continuation of the trend toward more settled conditions, with rain-bearing weather systems more likely to affect southern areas from time to time. However, most areas are likely to see some spells of dry weather, with potential for frost and some fog overnight, this most likely in the north. A possibility of strong winds at times, with temperatures generally close to average for the time of year.
