Dry this evening with late sunny spells. Clear spells overnight across Lanarkshire and east of Glasgow, but increasing cloud across Argyll and the west brings patchy light rain by dawn. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Sunday:

Some brighter spells across Lanarkshire and eastern Ayrshire but generally a cloudy day with patchy mainly light rain around, especially west of Glasgow and across Argyll. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Mainly dry with some sunny spells on Monday. Cloudier Tuesday with rain for a time through the morning. Dry with some bright or sunny spells Wednesday but feeling cooler.

Fine and dry on Thursday, with sunny spells and patchy fair-weather cloud. Some showers possible for the extreme northeast, accompanied by breezy winds; these winds are also expected for the far southwest where gale force gusts could be seen around hills and exposed headlands. By the end of the week, high pressure is expected to dominate, meaning most places will be dry and bright, with some morning fog patches in places. After a dip in daytime temperatures at the start of the period, it will probably warm slightly by day, although overnight frosts remain probable in rural areas. These settled conditions are expected to persist for most places until the end of April, with the greatest potential for rain and stronger winds across the south and southwest.

Overall, fine and dry weather is expected to be most dominant, with fair-weather cloud and plenty of sunny spells. However, all areas are likely to see some showers or perhaps some longer spells of rain at times, with these unsettled periods more likely than they were in April. Temperatures are likely to be close to average for the time of year, with the possibility of warmer spells at times.
