Extensive low cloud and hill fog during the morning, should gradually burn back towards coastal districts to leave a fine and dry day, with plenty of warm sunshine. Feeling cooler on coasts, where it will remain rather cloudy. Light winds. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

Low cloud and hill fog will drift back in from the North Sea overnight, with some patchy drizzle in places. Perhaps some occasional clear spells inland. Breezy and mild. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Friday:

Low cloud, patchy drizzle and hill fog at first, although this will tend to gradually burn back to the coast. Elsewhere, dry with some warm sunny spells developing. Light winds. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Generally cool with north-easterly winds, bringing extensive low cloud, hill fog and patchy drizzle by night. Brighter during the daytime, with the best chance of any sunshine in the west.

Showers with the potential for some longer spells of rain, heavy and perhaps thundery at times, will affect parts of England and Wales at first, especially in the south but tending to ease away to the southeast by the end of Tuesday. Elsewhere, generally settled conditions prevailing, albeit with low cloud and drizzle along North Sea coasts in particular; away from here, most places will experience above average temperatures during this period. A short-lived quieter spell of weather is possible then possible, before a transition to a more unsettled, mobile westerly pattern is most likely by midweek and beyond, with spells of wind and rain in many areas, but perhaps interspersed with occasional drier and brighter interludes.

Typical autumn weather will probably affect the UK with a mix of weather types through the first half of October. Periods of unsettled conditions, with wind and rain at times, will likely be interspersed with shorter spells of calmer and drier weather. Overall, wetter than average conditions are expected during this period, especially in central and southern areas. Temperatures are most likely to be close to or slightly above average overall, although some cooler spells are possible at times.
