Tonight:

Dry initially, with clear spells. However, a band of heavy squally rain will move in from the west later in the night. Chilly, though temperatures rising later in the night. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Thursday:

Heavy rain will quickly clear to leave a day of sunny spells and blustery showers. Showers wintry over the high ground. Feeling colder than it has done of late. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Staying rather unsettled with bright intervals and scattered heavy showers, these wintry over the hills at first. Feeling colder than of late with overnight frosts possible. Breezy at times.

Updated:

UK long range weather forecast

It will remain changeable through Sunday and Monday with a longer spell of rain likely across the south or southwest, and a scattered few showers elsewhere. Temperatures will be close to average, with some night time frosts. Although near normal, these temperatures will feel like a marked contrast to the mild conditions of recent weeks. A generally unsettled pattern is most likely to continue through to early March bringing spells of rain across all areas at times, wettest in the west and northwest, where it'll be windy too at times. Temperatures generally around average though some short-lived colder interludes are possible, these more likely in the north which may allow some sleet or snow to fall to lower levels at times.

Updated:

An initial continuation of unsettled conditions is most likely in this period with low pressure systems likely to continue to cross west-to-east over or close-to the UK, with mostly short-lived spells of drier and brighter weather between times. Temperatures are likely to be near or slightly above normal overall, with occasional night frosts, but values will fluctuate as weather systems come and go. From mid-March, the chance of a longer period of more settled and drier weather increases.
