Headline:

Long spells of sunshine developing for most.

Today:

Low cloud and mist burning back to the north coast this morning, with long sunny spells developing. It will be warm or very warm away from northern and eastern coasts. Northerly winds will be fresh at times over the Isles. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Tonight:

Some late sunshine for most but cloud spreading back inland from the north coast through the evening and overnight, perhaps with a few spots of rain or drizzle. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Thursday:

A rather cloudy start but cloud gradually becoming confined to the north coast with some long sunny spells developing, especially towards Lochaber and Skye. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Dry and bright or sunny over the coming days, with overnight low cloud in the north and east burning off during the morning. Feeling warm, especially Lochaber and the south.

Settled conditions are likely to dominate throughout this period with plenty of dry and bright weather across the country, with the best of the sunshine expected across the west. Some low cloud is likely in eastern areas each day, but this will tend to burn back towards the North Sea coastline during the day. There is the very small risk of a shower in the south, and isolated patchy drizzle along eastern coasts. Temperatures will continue to be warmest towards the west, with an onshore wind making it feel cooler in eastern areas, especially the southeast where winds will be strongest. Towards the end of this period, the chance of showers in the south may start to increase. Further north, the generally fine pattern is likely to continue.

Updated:

Into the second half of June, there is an increasing risk of rain or showers, perhaps thundery, affecting southern parts, while northern areas are more likely to stay predominantly dry. Temperatures are likely to be near or above average for many, however, the east may continue to see suppressed temperatures at times with an onshore flow. This flow may reduce at times which would see a recovery in temperatures in the east. Overall, winds are likely to be lighter towards the north, and slightly stronger towards the south.
