Headline:

Sunday turning cloudy with patchy rain. Clearing later in day.

This Evening and Tonight:

Dry with clear periods over the west Highlands. Haar will continue to affect some coastal areas, edging further inland during the night. Light northerly breezes freshening across the Hebrides overnight. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Sunday:

Best of brighter spells appearing across southern end of the Great Glen during the morning. Otherwise turning cloudy with patchy rain spreading from north. Feeling cooler than previous days. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Much cooler on Monday with sunshine and a few showers. Heavier rain at first on Tuesday, followed by strong northwest winds, bright spells and blustery showers, continuing on Wednesday.

Initially cool with northerly winds providing showers along exposed northern, western and eastern coasts, but also a few inland at times too, although central and southern areas may stay fairly dry and sunny. Showers wintry on the mountain tops in Scotland. Towards the end of the week and into the weekend it will likely turn more widely drier for a time, especially in central and southern areas, with the greater chance of rain and blustery conditions in the north and northwest. A gradual recovery in temperature is also expected as winds become more westerly. By the following week, while confidence is low a trend towards more settled conditions is most likely, accompanied by warmer temperatures. That said, some rain or showers are still possible, especially in the south and/or northwest.

The focus for wetter weather overall is more likely to return to north and especially northwestern areas, whilst southern and eastern areas have a greater chance of being drier relative to earlier in the month. Temperatures are likely to be around average overall, though with greater potential for brief spells of warm weather in the south.
