A dry, sunny start. Cloud increases from the west through the morning with scattered showers breaking out towards midday. Showers occasionally heavy in the afternoon, occasionally merging to longer spells of rain. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Heavy showers or longer spells of rain continue through the evening and into the start of the night. Turning mostly dry later in the early hours with winds easing. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Monday:

A dry bright start. Cloud builds through the morning, a few showers breaking out. Showers become frequent and heavy in the afternoon, merging to longer spells of rain by evening. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

A cold few days. A few showers on Tuesday, strong winds for a time. A dry bright start Wednesday, rain later and on Thursday.

Winds from the north or northwest are expected to affect the UK at the start of this period. Some showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, these heaviest across the north and northwest, though systems still likely reaching the south east on Thursday. Temperatures are expected to mostly be below normal edging toward average or just above into the new week. Through the weekend and into the new week a build of pressure will probably occur, meaning more in the way of dry weather across the UK as a whole. Some rain of light showers will still be possible at times, if these develop they will be more likely to affect the northwest.

Updated:

Towards the end of April, high pressure will probably be close to the UK with a good deal of dry weather for many areas. Moving into May, these settled conditions will probably move northwards, with the driest weather across the northwest of the UK. If any more unsettled conditions develop these are more likely to affect south with a risk of some heavy rain or showers. Temperatures will probably be close to average overall, with warm days but some colder nights.
