Today:

Areas of mist, fog, and low cloud will clear inland during the morning, but likely to persist around some southern coasts, where it will stay cool. Otherwise, some good sunny spells developing, and very mild for the time of year. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

It will stay dry across the region overnight, but low cloud, mist, and patchy fog will become widespread again by Saturday morning. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Saturday:

After a dull and misty start with patchy fog, it should slowly brighten up during the day, with sunny spells developing across many parts from the east. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Dry, settled, and mild through the rest of the weekend and into early next week, with increasing amounts of sunshine, after the clearance of overnight mist, fog, and low cloud.

Wednesday and Thursday may start with some patchy fog and cloud, but for most it will be largely fine and mild later on with some sunny spells. However, in northwest Scotland it will be a different picture, with cloudier skies and some rain coming through at times. Temperatures will stay on the mild side for the time of year, though overnight frosts are still possible. By early March we are likely to see much more unsettled conditions as weather fronts bring stronger winds, gales and rain at times to all parts of the UK. It will also be a little colder than recently, with snow over some of the hills and mountains in the north.

The weather looks to be fairly unsettled through this period, with a mixture of wet and windy weather for many parts, but also with some drier spells from time to time. The heaviest of the rain is likely to be in the northwest. Snow remains possible over the hills and mountains in the north, but it is less likely anywhere else. Milder conditions remain more likely, perhaps with occasional colder spells which could bring overnight frosts. The best chance of dry and sunny weather will be in the south and east.
