A cool start, with any mist and fog patches soon clearing to leave a largely fine and dry day, with sunny spells for many. Small chance of an isolated shower near the east coast. Light winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Dry with some clear spells this evening. However, a band of rain, locally heavy, will move quickly southwards across all parts overnight, accompanied by freshening winds. Milder than last night. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Monday:

Early rain clearing to leave a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, locally heavy, especially towards the east coast. Feeling colder than Sunday, especially in the brisk northerly wind. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Sunny spells and showers, locally heavy, on Tuesday. Cool and windy. Chance of some rain on Wednesday, although some uncertainty. Sunshine and showers on Thursday, possibly heavy and thundery.

Cloud and rain will most likely spread from the west or southwest to affect all areas at times. Temperatures likely around normal or slightly below. Into October, the unsettled regime is likely to continue dominating the UK weather. Low pressure systems will bring showers or longer periods of rain to most parts of the country, with the highest rainfall expected in the west and northwest. Winds may become strong at times, most likely in the northwest. A shift towards more settled weather could possibly begin at the end of this period. Temperatures rather cold at first, then trending close to average.
