London & South East England weather forecast

Headline:

Rain and showers, brighter later.

Today:

Rather cloudy, with a swathe of rain interspersed with heavier and more showery bursts making gradual progress westwards. Brightening up with some sunny intervals from the east later, but with hail and thunder also possible in scattered showers. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Tonight:

Heavy showers and thunderstorms slowly dying out later in the evening, replaced by drier weather and some clear spells. Low cloud and fog may encroach inland around the Thames Estuary. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Sunday:

Residual showers clearing southern coastal districts early on, with low cloud, mist and fog in many areas following suit and also breaking up to reveal eventual warm sunny spells. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Mainly fine on Monday after early cloud and fog clear but otherwise becoming more showery through this period, with some eventually heavy and perhaps thundery.

UK long range weather forecast

Most likely an unsettled start to the period with western showers and eastern rain, potentially heavy in the northeast, before a transient settled spell late in the week. Early in the bank holiday weekend a band of rain, heavy at times moves in from the west, becoming weaker as it moves east becoming more showery in nature with scattered showers also following. Into the new week increasingly settled conditions more likely for most, though rain may threaten north-western areas early on whilst some southern or eastern areas occasionally less settled with showers more likely later in the period though there will be some sunshine between times, the best of this in south-western parts. Temperatures are likely to be a little above average, but some large spatial differences are likely.

Updated:

There is nothing to suggest that conditions will be massively different to climatology at the end of the current month and though the first half of June. That said, both temperatures and rainfall are more-likely to be a little above average overall, with further rain or showers (possibly heavy/thundery at times) but also some spells of warm sunshine.
