Sunshine and showers for many, these heavy at times but becoming more isolated by the afternoon. Winds lighter than on Wednesday, though still breezy at times and feeling rather cool. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

A cold and locally frosty start on Friday, becoming dry with sunny spells. Warmer with sunny spells over the weekend, with showery rain in the north on Sunday.

Cloud and outbreaks of rain, perhaps heavy in places, are expected to affect some northern areas at the start of this period. Further south, it is likely to be dry with spells of sunshine. Temperatures will mainly be close to average for the time of year. Through the middle and latter part of next week high pressure will begin to become more dominant, with dry and at times sunny conditions spreading across the majority of the UK. Temperatures during the day will probably be above average in many areas, although some cold nights are also possible. This pattern will probably persist through the rest of this period, although by late September there is a chance that more unsettled conditions may begin to develop.

Typical Autumn weather will probably affect the UK with a mix of weather types during late September and early October. Periods of wet, unsettled weather will likely be broken up by some spells of more settled, drier weather. Overall, the wettest conditions will probably be in the west with the east drier. Temperatures are most likely to be close to or slightly above average.
