A frosty, locally icy start to the day, with some hazy sunshine. Becoming increasingly cloudy with some patchy light rain and drizzle developing during the afternoon. A west to north-westerly breeze developing, and staying cold. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

It will be a cloudy evening and night with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle. Winds also strengthen. The cloudy skies will result in a milder night than of late. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Tuesday:

Remaining windy and cloudy through Tuesday. The cloud will be thick enough for further patchy rain, this turning heavier and more persistent into the evening. Feeling milder than recent days. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Blustery showers on Wednesday, and colder again. Drier, brighter and less windy on Thursday before a band of rain and snow sweeps through overnight into Friday with further strong winds.

Further south snow likely confined to high ground. Brighter showery conditions following, these frequent and heavy in the northwest, wintry over high ground. Remaining windy, with gales possible in exposed northern areas. Temperatures near normal. Continuing unsettled through the rest of this period with spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with brighter interludes accompanied with showers. Likely the wettest conditions to be in the west and northwest, and drier conditions in the south towards the end of the period. Often windy with a risk of gales at times, especially in the north and northwest. Often mild, with the potential for brief colder interludes.

Overall, through this period it is expected to be unsettled and changeable with milder and wetter than average conditions for most, bringing a risk of stormy conditions. Perhaps turning more settled in southern regions for a time nearer the start of this period, which will increase the risk of frost and fog when skies clear overnight. Temperatures on the milder side for much of this period, but some short lived colder spells are possible.
