Today:

Low cloud and drizzle continuing for many coastal parts and hills during the morning, before becoming confined to mainly northern coasts. Some sunny intervals developing inland at times, with cloud and outbreaks of rain arriving from the south later. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Tonight:

Low cloud returns to all parts through the evening with rain or drizzle. Cloudy overnight with extensive hill fog and drizzle. Heavy showers may arrive from the south toward dawn. Minimum temperature 14 °C.

Sunday:

A cloudy start with extensive low cloud and hill fog. Bands of heavy thundery showers gradually moving northwards before possibly clearing to some sunny intervals and isolated showers later. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

A cloudy start Monday, with patchy rain or showers, drier and brighter later. Cloudy, windy and cool Tuesday, with heavy rain followed by sunny intervals. Cool, bright and showery Wednesday.

This period is expected to start off on a very cool note, with winds from the north or northwest bringing reasonable amounts of sunshine, particularly to southern areas, but also fairly frequent showers to the north, especially coasts and hills. Showers could be of sleet or snow on some of the highest mountain tops. A gradual recovery in temperatures is expected through the rest of the week as winds become more westerly, the focus of rain then changing to west and northwest areas, whilst southern parts likely see a good deal of fine weather. By the following week, confidence is very low, but more settled conditions than of late are most likely overall, especially in the north, and accompanied by warmer temperatures. Any unsettled spells more likely further south.

The focus for wetter weather overall tis more likely to return to north and especially northwestern areas, whilst southern and eastern areas have a greater chance of being drier relative to earlier in the month. Temperatures are likely to be around average overall, though with greater potential for brief spells of warm weather in the south.
