A rather cloudy day with patchy drizzle lingering in eastern parts through the morning. Drier and brighter in the west with warm sunny spells developing into the afternoon, however heavy showers sweeping westwards across Cheshire during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

Drier this evening, with clear skies in the south at first. Cloud across the north soon spreading southwards, leaving an overcast but mild night. Rather breezy across the Pennines. Minimum temperature 14 °C.

Saturday:

Another cloudy day with patchy drizzle in the east, and heavy showers, perhaps thundery, developing in the south. Breezier too, with the best of the sunshine on western coasts. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

A mild but cloudy day on Sunday with the best of the sunshine along the westerns coast. Remaining cloudy through Monday and Tuesday, though turning cooler with light northerly winds.

Some rain across southeastern parts, lighter and not as extensive as previous days and tending to ease away to the southeast by the end of Tuesday. Elsewhere, generally settled conditions prevailing for most places, although with a band of cloud and some rain moving across the far north, particularly the northwest and a few showers moving into western parts further south. Temperatures likely a bit cooler than previous days. A transition to a generally more unsettled, mobile westerly pattern is most likely by midweek and beyond, with spells of wind and rain moving into many areas, but more especially in the south. Towards the end of the week, much cooler, showery conditions are expected for many parts with the north and west likely being a focus for these showers.

Typical autumn weather will probably affect the UK with a mix of weather types through the first half of October. Periods of unsettled conditions, with wind and rain at times, will likely be interspersed with shorter spells of calmer and drier weather. Overall, wetter than average conditions are expected during this period, especially in central and southern areas. Temperatures are most likely to be close to or slightly above average overall, although some cooler spells are possible at times.
